Chef Garnett Livingston began his career not in the kitchen, but on the classical music stage as a professional trombone player. A graduate of The Juilliard School, Garnett spent over a decade playing music professionally with orchestras such as Pittsburgh Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, and the Columbus Symphony. Chef Livingston also had the privilege to perform with artist including Aretha Franklin, Al Jarreao, Tony Bennet, Olivia Newton John, Idina Menzel, Jose Feliciano, and George Benson to name a few. Developing a passion for the culinary arts along the way, Garnett eventually decided to make a complete change and dive into the world of cooking.

“It was The French Laundry cookbook that would eventually change everything for me. I brought the book home one evening and read it front to back without stopping. I knew in this moment that cooking and learning this type of high level cuisine would be my new passion”

Over the next few years Garnett spent hours in his kitchen learning, practicing, and refining technique and flavor. The collection of books grew, and a short list of culinary hero’s began to emerge such as Thomas Keller, Daniel Boulud, Eric Ripert, and Patrick O’Connell. Dinner parties were frequent lasting will into the morning hours with friends and other wine and food enthusiast. It was at this time Chef Livingston began to see a vision for a business that would share these experiences with guests around Pittsburgh in the privacy of their home, office, or other intimate location. La Maison was born!

“One of my favorite things to do as a Chef is to travel and dine at Michelin restaurants around the world. For me there is no greater way to gain perspective, increase my passion and knowledge for the art of fine dining, and taste the flavors and finesse of the world’s greatest chefs.”
